Match Report for Team: Mens 2nd XI
06/03/2010 vs Portsmouth & Southsea: 7 - 1 Win Blandford in 7th heaven after Rompey Pompey
BSNHC clinically dispatched a depleted P&S team at home on Saturday. Despite falling behind to a very quick break early in the first half BSNHC rallied to record another high scoring win.
Henry Pollen brought parity after the early setback with a well worked slip short corner routine straight off the training ground. BSNHC proved they can counter attack when Ben Ladd-Gibbon and Richard Druce combined to feed Campbell Reeman who slotted into an empty goal. Reeman added his second before half time finishing off a flowing move down the right and slotting under the keeper.
After the early pressure from P&S, BSNHC never really looked troubled at the back. Jim Turnbull was rarely called into action and Sam Hinsley marshalled the defensive quartet well with Alex Hanham, Tom Hunt and Alex Talbot playing well beyond their tender years.
Half time cantered on pace, being quicker and slicker when in possession but slowing down the P&S team when they had it and forcing them into errors. Four goals in the 2nd half was testament to how well BSNHC went about this task and credit to their discipline and structure.
Harry Waterton was instrumental at the heart of the midfield and his tireless running was the springboard for many a BSNHC attack. Richard Druce added the teams fourth after another slick short corner routine. Slipped to the right by Ed Neale, Druce was on hand to apply a deft deflection just inside the post. Henry Pollen added his second, smashing home a loose ball in the 'D' after more good work down the right.
Druce turned provider again after reacting quickest to a rebound of the post. His cross from the left was neatly deflected into the goal by Reeman, via the underside of the cross bar, to complete his hatrick. A fourth soon followed as Reeman slid in at the far post and turned in an errant ball with an audacious reverse stick effort.
BSNHC play Basingstoke on Sunday in a re-arranged fixture from the snowy period. This game should serve as good confidence boost and both a lesson and an example in what they are capable of. |
